Executive Director, Office for Global Engagement (OGE)

  • Direct strategic international partnership development, global program development, marketing, and outreach supporting international initiatives at the University of Utah.
  • Drive international partnership strategy and development with higher education institutions and government entities across the globe.
  • Drove OGE strategy development for OGE in coordination with a cross-campus team.
  • Develop, plan, and manage the delivery of university-based custom programs for international clients, including the Chinese Ministry of Education and provincial governments. Entails all program design, curriculum, P&L responsibility, contract negotiation, staffing, and oversight of program delivery. Programs included the Pac-12 China Coaches Training program, one of the largest U.S.-China people-to-people exchanges. The four-year program generated $6.7M in revenue for the University and educated over 400 university coaching faculty.
  • Created the Global U Inventory, a real-time searchable database of University of Utah international activities.
  • Develop branding and marketing campaigns for the department and affiliated programs; drove the successful rebrand of the U Asia Campus (South Korea). Rebrand campaign instrumental in over 2000% increase in student learning abroad participation.
  • Plan, market, and execute visits and events for international dignitaries, including the visit of the Dalai Lama to the University of Utah (2016).
  • Co-PI and Project Manager on a $19M USAID grant working with universities in Pakistan to improve educational capacity and alignment with workforce development goals. Work included developing a highly regarded training program for creating professional online education.
  • Developed and co-manage the Winter Olympic Sustainability Research Alliance (WOSRA), a consortium of ~ 100 research faculty from the University of Utah and Université Côte d’Azur working on sustainability issues related to the Winter Olympic Games.

  • Created promotional vehicles for Time Warner brands to drive more traffic to sites.
  • Collaborated with department heads to coordinate resolution of needs and issues from Time Warner brands, including promotions to drive traffic to websites, ad sales across brands, and rollout of online tools.
  • Selected as one of two-person team to manage integration of Time Warner websites with AOL pre- and post- merger; developed key strategy for integration.
  • Saved combined companies over $500 million by bringing formerly isolated website teams into collaborative working group; worked across brands to improve efficiencies and costs.

  • Successfully managed team’s creation of hundreds of products in extremely fast-paced, complex environment where project priorities changed on daily basis.
  • Increased customer traffic and company revenue by personally creating several of most popular sites on AOL, including The Late Show with David Letterman and Sporting News, the first sporting magazine on AOL; developed creative solutions to translate non-Web media into interactive and compelling sites.
  • Drove the design of well-reviewed Netscape Search product, the first search product to use Google as a search engine; assisted in negotiations for a new search engine (Google); oversaw product launch and subsequent revisions and improvements to the product.
  • Created the first Late Show with David Letterman internet presence on AOL; site was one of the top page-view sites on AOL. Designed lead-up campaign for launch of The Late Show site; created buzz about site for the month prior to launch.
