I initially started at Munson as an LPN in oncology working midnights. I provided direct patient care, medication administration, reporting directly to RN assessments and new developments that required informing physicians. I gave patient and family support in their difficult situations. I worked in that department for 5 years. I then transferred to inpatient Alcohol and drug treatment therapy. I worked on the adult and adolescent unit. I completed certification for that field, obtained a chauffeur license.

I was responsible for clients medication administration,supervision on unit, admission history, responding to any medical needs, transporting and supervision to and during activities. Conducting a monthly educational class.

I then returned to Oncology for 4 more years.

I went to pre-op in1995 and remained there for the remainder of my career. I was responsible for assisting anesthesiologist in multiple procedures to prepare patients for surgery. Administered conscious sedation under their direction. Started IVs and fluid administration. Prepared patients with the requirements for their specific surgeries, making sure proper tests had been completed prior to surgery, reporting any abnormal findings to Dr or anesthesiologist. Provided teaching,information and emotional support to patients and families.

I obtained my RN in 2007 at that time I was trained in the recovery room and would work both areas. But the biggest portion of time I spent in pre-op. I was responsible for precepting new staff in both pre-op and recovery room.
