Chilli Tillack

For 3 years I volunteered as a Leader in Training. From 2021-2023 I fine-tuned my skills within the surfing field and the MBAC environment. Prior to being a Leader in Training, I was a camper since 2012. As a camper I leapt at any opportunity to learn all the sports that I was offered. As an LIT I helped maintain a positive and safe camp environment. Through these years of experience, I accumulated skills such as:

• Communication with peers
• How to Assist counselors in all aspects of camp operation
• Camp safety and instruction
• Set-up and breakdown of camp
• Camper interaction
• How to observe for skiers and wake boarders
• Ocean marine life and safety
• How to assist kids when at the beach

Link Crew is a program that welcomes the 9th grade class on the first day of school as well as continues to support them throughout their first year of hight school, and show them what it means to be a Crusader. I was chosen to be a Link Crew Leader out of a large field of 11th and 12th grade applicants. I have been identified as a person at school who is kind, responsible, positive role model, possessing leadership qualities, and most importantly, has a desire to give back to my school community. Through Link Crew I am fulling my responsibilities of:

• Attending an arriving on time to all Link Crew meetings and events
• Understanding the mission of Link Crew
• Welcoming 9th graders at orientation
• Preparing the 9th grade class for their new high school life
• Making sure they feel comfortable at high school
• Reconnecting with the 9th graders throughout the school year so that they know that someone has their back

HPR Queens is a daughter organization of HPR. Our mission is to promote good will, character, cultural knowledge, and acceptance throughout the San Diego community. With girls ages seven to nineteen, we serve the community and represent the cultures involved in the House of Pacific Relations. We are a 501(c)(3) organization comprised of 75 girls and 19 cultures of volunteers. With this organization we participate in:

• Community service events
• Organize food drives
• Run beach clean-ups
• Fundraise for women in crisis
• Create homeless care packages
• Serve as youth ambassadors for the International Cottages in Balboa Park
• Teach kids our cultures and what it means to be an HPR Queen
