Maritime worker with hands-on experience aboard commercial vessels in fish processing, sanitation, deck work, offloads, and passenger service. I’m comfortable with long hours, rotating schedules, physical work, and living and working onboard a vessel. I have experience working with different crews, following safety procedures, keeping work areas clean, and handling the demands of a busy vessel environment. I currently hold a U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), TWIC, U.S. Coast Guard Medical Certificate, U.S. Passport, and GED. I’m looking to continue building my maritime experience in a Deckhand, Ordinary Seaman, Wiper, or other entry-level maritime position that matches my current qualifications.
As a Processor/Sanitation Lead aboard a commercial fishing vessel, I was responsible for a variety of duties throughout the fishing season. My main responsibilities included processing fish, sorting and handling the catch, assisting with offloads, cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, and keeping the work areas organized and safe. I also helped make sure sanitation procedures were followed and that equipment and workspaces were properly cleaned at the end of shifts.
The job required me to work long hours, often around 13 hours a day and sometimes longer, while working a rotating shift schedule. I was also living onboard the vessel for the duration of the season, so I had to stay dependable, work well with different people, and maintain a good work ethic even when I was tired. There were times when the work was physically demanding and repetitive, but I stayed focused on getting the job done and helping the rest of the crew keep operations moving.
As a Deckhand and Waiter with City Cruises, I split my responsibilities between helping with vessel operations and providing service to passengers. As a deckhand, I assisted with general deck duties, kept work areas clean and organized, and helped maintain a safe environment onboard. As a waiter, I took orders, served food and beverages, checked on guests, and worked to provide good customer service throughout their trip.
I worked about 12 hours a day, 5 days a week, which required me to stay focused and dependable during long shifts. Working both on deck and with passengers taught me how to work as part of a crew, communicate well, handle physical work, and provide professional service in a busy vessel environment.
