- Manage all day-to-day operations on a 2,500-acre vegetable farm. Including planting, irrigation, ground prep, fertilizer, and pesticide applications.
- Work with shippers (Taylor Farms, Earthbound Farms, Growers Express) to develop new production opportunities in our growing region.
- Lead a team of approximately 100 employees during the winter vegetable season.
- Monitor crops to coordinate irrigations, tractor work, weeding/thinning, fertilizer applications.
- Coordinate with PCAs to schedule proper pesticide application timing. While also being aware of REI and PHI parameters.
- Create and maintain detailed records of planting, fertilizer applications, and harvest information.
- Manage financial aspects of the ranch including budgeting, forecasting revenue and expenses.
- Work with harvest management on harvest timing. Also, coordinating pre-harvest irrigations and pesticide applications.
- Maintain a healthy work culture that has an emphasis on employee safety, efficiency, food safety, and employee morale.
- Work with my team of supervisors to coordinate daily, weekly, or monthly objectives. Also, maintain flexibility within those objectives.
- Work with various landowners throughout the Yuma and Imperial Valleys to pursue or renew leases on farm ground.
- Maintain a solid working relationship with landowners and address any concerns they may have.
- Attend various meetings throughout the region to stay up to date on continuing education, water issues, regulatory updates, and food safety trainings.
- Work with seed industry professionals and assist with trial evaluations.
