Job consisted of performing duct work and building fittings in the shop. Performing field work and installing duct and spiral pipe and fittings. Service department work included serving AC units and troubleshooting them when there was a problem. Also I did servicing for water heaters.

The Asphalt Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a wide variety of light-to-medium sized equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city streets. Responsibilities include the following.

• Performs maintenance, repair and construction duties.
• Works with surface treatment crew or the district crew.
• District crew includes road surface preparation, pothole repair, dig outs asphalt tie-ins, skin and deep patching, crack sealing and grading.
• Surface treatment crew includes, fog sealing, slurry sealing, chip sealing, planning, reclaiming, overlay, road surface preparation, in-lays, asphalt tie-ins, crack sealing and grading.
• Under general supervision, will operate a wide range of light to medium complexity construction equipment required for the various asphalt applications.
• Low complexity- 3/4 ton pickup, compressor, and jackhammer, plate compactor, hand tools power tools etc...
• Medium complexity- trailers, rollers, ten-wheelers, tank trailer, bobtail, tar pots, Lee Boy, vibratory rollers, loaders, transports, snowplows, etc...
• Responsible to transport signs and barricade equipment to and from job sites. Required to set up individual sites in accordance with state and city traffic control regulations.
• Notifies area residents and/or businesses of upcoming construction schedule and provides them with information regarding the re-routing of traffic and relocation of their personal vehicles. Coordinates with immediate supervisor to remove and relocate any vehicles which may be obstructing the work site.
• Loads, transports and unloads equipment, tools, asphalt, aggregate, and related materials and supplies.
• May provide training training to seasonal and hourly employees.
• Evaluates and documents the operating condition of and performs routine maintenance on each assigned vehicle prior to its use. Troubleshoots and makes minor repairs in the yard or at a job site. Refers complex or major repairs to Fleet Management.
• Performs snow removal duties for an assigned district in accordance with the cities snow removal program.
• Completes routine forms, i.e., equipment log books, check sheets, asphalt and oil tickets, repair tickets, etc...
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Maintenance work involves checking, repairing and servicing machinery, equipment, systems and infrastructures. Maintenance engineers ensure that industrial machinery and equipment runs smoothly and reliably. Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance, and responding to breakdowns.
• Rail car operation consist of moving rail cars and loading them. We also had to communicate with Union Pacific daily on railcar movement out of the yard.

Set up, operate, or tend machines to crush, grind, or polish materials such as stone and sand.

Welding, Fabricating and assembly of metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools. Welders produce metal products according to customer or employer specifications. Welders set up, operate and maintain welding equipment.

Bulk loading consists of loading and unloading salt and bulk solids into rail cars or trucks using moving equipment. The loader performs a variety of tasks relating to shipment of products. Other job duties include.

Responsible for measuring and prepping rooms for the installation of carpet. Prepares and exhibits samples for selection. Rips up old flooring, and installs carpet in offices, airports, homes, and businesses. Job duties include.

• Lay floor coverings.
• Measure rooms and draw up specification for the carpets.
• Remove and dispose of old flooring.
• Lay out samples for selection.
• Fasten tackless strips to the floors
• Install padded cushion.
• Roll out, measure, mark and cut carpet.
• Position carpet to stretch and fit.
• Cut of excess carpet and frays.
• Use of a power stretcher to stretch carpet to fit flooring and walls.
• Hook carpet to tackless strip.
• Finish edges with wall trimmer.
• Join carpet section together for large rooms.
• Join sections using heat-taped seams.
• Glue or staple carpet floor.
• Utilize carpet-laying tools such as carpet shears, knee kickers, wall trimmers, loop pile cutters, heat irons, and power stretchers.
• Correct imperfections on carpet.
• Rip off soiled sections of carpet and replace with new swatch.
