As a Production Associate I was responsible for safely packaging Kratom and other alternative herbs according to OSHA and company regulations. The whole process started with collecting samples of the Kratom powder to send off to the lab for testing and inspecting the bags for any debris before transferring it into the auger machine. Using the auger and other machines I would then transfer that powder into bags, seal those bags, create Kratom capsules and bag them as well. It was extremely important to wear the proper PPE throughout this process as well as keep a clean work area and maintain regular hand washing. Another responsibility I had was labeling products with the strain, batch number and expiration dates. Since these labels were unable to be peeled off once placed it was extremely important to be precise when putting them on. I must also maintain accurate documentation of the day's work with batch records and quality control reports
As a fulfillment team member, I was responsible for taking care of guest's online orders and providing support to customers on the store floor. Using a handheld device, I would navigate the backroom and the floor of the store in order to find the items specified in the picking app. I would then have to either store those items for pickup or prepare them to be shipped off. I was eventually trained in Beauty as well where I interacted closely with guests by helping them find certain products and providing recommendations. I got to know the beauty products offered in our store extremely well, especially since I was responsible for unboxing the products and staging them on shelves, as well as back stocking any leftover inventory. When I wasn’t working in fulfillment or beauty I was throwing freight, zoning, doing go-backs or folding clothes in the other departments. I was even trained on the registers and would fill in as needed.
As an OGP member I was once again responsible for handling guests' online orders. However, Walmart is much busier than Target and had a much higher order volume with those orders containing many more items. Despite this I was always a top performer, having some of the fastest pick times with the least number of missing items/substitutions. I made it a personal challenge of mine to beat my previous pick time every day and was always finding faster routes throughout the store. On the rare days where my department was slow, I would help out by putting back returns and stocking/zoning shelves throughout different departments.
