- Started working for SMI as a well rounded Journeyman Machinist programming and running CNC lathes and mills. Learned quickly how to repair and sharpened specialized die sets that we built from the ground up. Worked in a team environment with four other tooling professionals. Was promoted to Tool Room lead in 2023. With the new responsibility I was expected to delegate and schedule work for two other machinists and myself, order all material and tooling to get upcoming projects done. In my time at SMI, I learned many new skills including using Mastercam to create CNC mill and wire EDM programs, surface grinding at a much higher level than I ever had before and the heat treating process of various tool steels such as A-2, D-2, S-7 and H-13. Proficient at running Mastercam, manual and CNC lathes, manual and CNC mills, CNC wire EDM's, surface grinders, drill presses, inspection equipment and all machining hand tools.
