Noncommissioned Officer In Charge (NCOIC) at the Camp Casey Trial Defense Service Field Office and was held accountable for personnel, office functions, and clients. As the NCOIC I was responsible for the growth and development of junior paralegals under me, as well as assisting the defense attorneys of the United States Forces Korea (USFK) in Court-Martial, legal research, and witness interviews. Assisting the Soldiers of the USFK was a large part of my duties, I would provide legal briefs to clients facing nonjudicial punishment, administrative separation, investigation, and court-martial and schedule them for appointments with attorneys as needed. I would also manage, edit, and create word documents, power point presentation, excel spreadsheets, and adobe pdfs.
I arrived at Hunter Army Airfield as a Private (E-2) and was assigned to the criminal justice office of 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, placed in charge of the legal actions of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd General Support Battalion. I would draft nonjudicial punishment, administrative separations, and reprimands for the commanders of my unit, in doing so I became knowledgeable in Microsoft word, power point, excel, and adobe pdf. I would also assist the criminal justice attorneys of the 3rd Infantry Division during court-martial by conducting witness interviews, collaborating with local and military law enforcement, panel construction, and overall organization of case and administrative documents. I would regularly brief battalion commanders, Command Sergeant Major, company commanders, and First Sergeants on the status and processes of their unit's legal cases. By the time I had left Hunter Army Airfield I had been promoted to Sergeant and received the army commendation medal and the army achievement award.
