Although I earned a degree and worked in the field of my studies for 9 years, I became a stay-at-home mom from 1999 to approximately 2009. I then began to work on a substitute basis, primarily for Colstrip Schools, and Colstrip Park and Recreation Department. Since moving to Ashland in 2013, I worked a few hours per school day at Ashland Public School. I worked the following summer to help clean the building. In 2015, I filled in for the janitor who had a leave of absence due to a back injury. He never returned to the position, and I was hired to work alongside another part-time janitor. Over the years my responsibilities have varied, and have improved my skills as a custodian. I still have a lot to learn, but I am currently working full-time in that capacity. I enjoy working alone, but also collaborate frequently with the person the school hires for maintenance.
The school does operate a small number of apartments for staff, and I have helped clean them out on many occasions. I have also helped friends to do this, on a volunteer basis. This includes former employees of St. Labre.
Filled in for various janitorial shifts for each of the 3 three school buildings, and the community learning center.
Also filled in for various special events such as district basketball tournaments, wrestling meets and track meets.
Worked with a team of housekeepers to maintain the cleanliness of single housing units that were rented by temporary employees for the power plant in Colstrip. (Now Talen Energy).
Duties included basic motel-like services, including change of bedding, bathroom and floor cleaning and reporting any damages to the units.
