Connor Baygents

San Antonio,TX

Summary

  • My “why” in applying for this position is simple: I believe in challenging oneself mentally and physically. I believe it is outside of a person's comfort zone where they discover who they are. Some people rise to the challenge and accept adversity, others fall to the wayside. As the Air Force has its core values, I have my own I strive to embody: integrity, hard work, and accountability. I believe in always doing the right thing, especially when it's hard. I believe in working hard, because anything in life worth doing is worth overdoing, and moderation is for cowards. Lastly, I believe in holding not only oneself accountable, but others. I believe in accepting fault when you've messed up, learning from mistakes and growing from them, as mistakes and failures are inevitable, but being hindered and crippled by them is a choice. I believe moving into a position where the primary job is to teach NCOs and young officers will definitely be a challenge, but a challenge I am willing to accept, and put in the work to hone my craft. I am a good instructor, working to become a better one, and believe this position will help me achieve that. Although I am a young NCO, and still new to the job, when I am presented with opportunities to better myself, I strive to do so at every occasion. The difference between me and arguably many people is I am willing to put in the work, accept feedback, and grow into my role.
