I started out as a regular cashier an worked both the drive thru and primarily the front counter. After about 2-3 months I became a crew trainer and helped out wherever I could with the new hires most specifically with how to use the machines around work such as the order taking machine. I had to ensure my area and that of the dining area were as clean as could be. I also had to help customers in any way I could including suggestions for food if asked, all while wearing a smile to ensure the customer felt as welcomed as possible.
This job was fairy similar to McDonald’s in almost every way except I had not stayed long enough to become a crew trainer. I had to ensure my area was clean to an even greater extent than McDonald’s as I rarely needed to use a mop at McDonald’s but at Wendy’s I cleaned all of the floors and the bathrooms and the end of the night. I also had to work both drive thru and front counter but at Wendy’s I was even more of an upfront counter person as it was rare that more help was needed at the drive thru in comparison to McDonald’s. I also wanted to say that both of my jobs were for as short tenures as they were due to my goal of getting bright futures at the time. When I was working at Wendy’s, in order to get bright futures you needed community service hours and it wasn’t until about a month into working at McDonald’s that, that rule was changed to allow work to count as said hours. So with summer coming up I had to quit Wendys in order to ensure I could start working on my community service hours and with McDonald’s my classes had got so intense my junior year since they were all collegiate level class and the most difficult I have taken yet at that. This meant I needed to change the days I worked and I tirelessly tried to get any sort of schedule that could be conducive to both work and school but for whatever the reason my schedule was never allowed to change not in terms of hours or when I worked which made me quite bitter as I was trying to do my best in all aspects of work and school but school had begun to be negatively affected and I was not going to squander my chances at a scholarship which I did eventually get over a job that wouldn’t work with me even a little bit to help me out . All of this to say while I’m sure seeing my previously short lived positions is concerning and I am sure whoever looks at my resume might be worried about my commitment. However, as long as my previous engagements with school are respected and can be worked around then I have no problem with working for as long as I need to both for my family situation and for my own monetary situation as I look to start at an actual university when I’m done with my pre requisite classes in a year or slightly more. I appreciate you once again reading this long winded message and I hope it helps with clarity to my situation.
I am quite good at customer service and ensuring a smile is on my face even in the worst of situations with customers I also was quite good at training people at McDonald’s Whenever they needed help I would be there to guide them as best I could I like to think I take my job quite seriously as while I do not see this as a full time career I take an immense amount of pride in how I accomplish my tasks no matter what they might entail Lastly, although this could be seen as the bare minimum, I was never late to a shift except for one time where while at McDonald’s I had just thrown up on my way to work and while I didn’t get any on me I did take a picture send it to the manager I was closest with and then called the store while he was working to let him know I would be unable to make it work He told me I didn’t need to worry but within 1 minute of me parking my car at home I was called and told that the GM said I had no choice but to come in so I did at which point I threw up again and was finally allowed to go home If I’m honest I feel as though that doesn’t count as being late but technically I was Regardless I tried my best throughout my duration at both Wendy’s and McDonald’s and I am positive nothing would change if I were to to be granted the opportunity to work here
