Maintenance and upgrade port engineer for Navy Destroyer (USS CHAFEE) for 8.5 years. Assisted with technical and engineering questions for upgrades to various equipment to support seaworthiness of military seagoing vessels.
Advised and assisted with short-term and long-term maintenance planning, as well as technically advised on engineering work specifications, review design drawings for validity and accuracy. Acted as the regional maintenance center and COMNAVSURFORCE single point of contact for issues on USS CHAFEE coordinating efforts for all maintenance and planning of activities in support of depot and intermediate level repairs and modernizations for the vessel. Troubleshoot and validated various required maintenance events and emergencies based on mechanical engineering knowledge, ship history, and coordinated repairs to ensure readiness for vessel deployment timelines. Recommend maintenance repairs to Commanding officer of the ship to maintain readiness.
Develop maintenance business plan and financial review for submittal to ship CO and Regional maintenance Commanding Officer. Provided management and quality oversite of the execution of maintenance activities.
Manage financial budgets for repair and modernization evolutions, submitting request for maintenance and modernization packages to COMNAVSURFPAC for financial review and repair authorization. Submitted business case analyses for emergent repairs to ships in casualty modes for financial authorization to complete emergency repairs.
Worked as a liaison with various stakeholders for the maintenance and upgrade of the ship, such as Builder, Weapons systems commands, ships force personnel, and Fleet Surface force directorate to coordinate various ship maintenance issues and develop repair packages and coordinate ship visits from various stakeholders. Current Secret Clearance holder.
