
I have 26 years of customer service experience working with customers in person and on the phone. I have 29 years experience in the fire service currently serving as an active member of the Waterloo Fire and Rescue Department along with 27 years experience in EMS with Waterloo Fire and Rescue. I have 16yrs experience serving as a fire/ems officer being State Certified as a Fire Officer 2. I have been a State Certified Fire Inspector since 2003 and since that time I have inspected businesses in our coverage area insuring they meet all applicable fire codes, providing reinspections to ensure any violations are corrected and work with our police department to issue any citations for violations that are not corrected when necessary. I oversaw my departments Inspection division for 10 years making sure all inspectors completed all of their inspections and reinspections provided training to them and utilized Microsoft Word to write reports and letters along with Excel spreadsheet to track all inspections, reinspections and violations. I have experience reviewing new building construction and fire system plans for approval or denial. For 5 years I oversaw my depts Communications Division making sure all radios and pagers were in working order. I have over 20 years experience working with my departments Public Education Division providing Fire Safety and EMS education and training to citizens, students, and business staff in our coverage area such as smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and AED units. I have 6 years experience working as a Parking Enforcement Officer for UW Madison Transportation Services providing education and enforcement of Parking Policies using hand held units to write citations, two way radios for communication and right hand drive vehicles to travel on campus along with helping visitors and students with directions to campus buildings and streets, setting up A-Frames and Verticades to create drive lanes and block parking stalls for construction projects and special events on campus, I also use shovels, battery powerd snow brooms and tool cat power equipment for snow and ice removal. I have 6 years experience as a Gate Technician on UW Campus, my duties include repairing and replacing damaged gate arms, rebooting gate systems, removing paper ticket jams and installing new paper rolls, removing credit cards that are stuck in the credit card readers and returning them to the owner of them. I also have 6 years experience at UW Madison working with our Special Events staff selling parking passes for our events such as Badger Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Hockey and all WIAA State Tournaments and assisting customers with answering any questions they may have or any campus driving directions they may need. I have 10 years experience working at Waterloo Firemens Park serving as Vice President for 5yrs. My duties included overseeing the daily operations of the park, supervising all employees including hiring and corrective action. Developing and implementing park policies, creating and submitting a yearly operational budget and meeting with city officials. I also ensured all buildings were cleaned, I used mops, powered floor cleaning equipment and chemical cleaning agents. I also performed light maintenance on the interior and exterior of all buildings in the park such as replacing lights, installing insulation in the walls and attic areas, repairing and cleaning of all cooking equipment and coolers. I also used chain saws and powered pole saws to trim and cut down trees in the park. Painting of building interiors and exterior walls, benches, sign posts and hand railings. I also performed light maintenance on all mowers, tractors and powered hand tools such as chain saws and weed trimmers. I have 26 years experience driving a 26ft straight truck making pick ups and deliveries in state and out of state for the US Postal Service and to Correctional facilities and I have over 10years experience as a driver trainer. I also have over 20 years experience providing light maintenance on trucks and cars. In 2004 I was given the Firefighter of the year award from Waterloo Fire and Rescue and in 2013 I received the Chief John "Chick" Foley Dedicated Service Award from Waterloo Fire and Rescue.
Oversaw the daily operations of Waterloo Firemens Park including the hiring, corrective action and supervision of all employees. Creating and implementing policies, developing a yearly operational budget and meeting with City officials. I also helped organize events held in the park such as the 4th of July Celebration. I also performed light maintenance and cleaning of all buildings and equipment in the park, performed light maintenance on all of our electrical equipment and powered lawn mowing and snow clearing equipment and ensured all the ball diamonds and grass areas in the park were mowed using our zero turn and walk behind mowers and weed trimmers.
