Knowledgeable with extensive experience overseeing correctional facilities and ensuring compliance with protocols. Demonstrated ability to manage diverse teams, enforce regulations, and maintain safety within institution. Proven track record in conflict resolution and crisis management.
This position performs correctional work, maintains order, and supervises offenders at the El Dorado Correctional Facility ensuring that order, discipline, and secure and sanitary conditions are established and maintained in all areas and during all activities throughout the facility. The CSI serves as a first line supervisor for COI’s and COII’s assigned to the living unit or as a relief OIC, providing leadership, guidance, and assistance. The incumbent provides on-the-job training and oversight of work performance; completes or oversees shakedowns, offender searches, enforces policies, rules and regulations for offenders and staff; responds to emergency situations in accordance with appropriate contingency plans; completes or assists with disciplinary hearings; provides supervision and feedback to assigned subordinate staff, submits and/or reviews reports and logs as required.

This position is full performance corrections work involving control and supervision of adult male felons in a correctional facility. Duties involve enforcement of rules and regulations’ controlling offenders in living, work or recreational areas; ensuring safety and security of staff offenders, and the public; and serving as the officer-in-charge.

Supervises and maintains discipline and control of resident's at all times. Performs searches of resident's person and physical areas in order to prevent and control secretion or contraband. Observes and monitors resident's activities and interactions while enforcing policy, rules and regulations. Follows established security procedure in controlling visitors, staff, resident and vehicular traffic to prevent the admittance or exit of unauthorized persons and the introductions of contraband. Takes and reports periodic counts of residents. Responds to emergency situations on accordance with appropriate contingency plans. Subject to regular rotation of post and/or shift assignment within the facility. Corrections Officers are required to weapons qualify under KDOC guidelines during initial training and on an annual basis.
