Seasoned Elementary School Teacher with over 30 years of experience at Houston Independent School District and Spring Branch I.S.D., specializing in classroom management and differentiated instruction. Excelled in curriculum development and staff leadership, bringing a blend of collaborative teamwork and proven problem-solving skills to foster educational excellence.
I have been a school teacher for 30 years. I retired in 2019 after having taught all grades in elementary school. I served as the school's reading specialist toward the end of my career, but the majority (25 years) I was a self-contained classroom teacher in 1, 3, and 4th grades. I am ESL certified in K-12, as well as certified in Secondary Language Arts, grades 7-12.
My forte is classroom management. I can do this position blindfolded and hog-tied. My husband recently retired from his demanding career of 40 years and I need to get out of the house. Really, I just miss teaching and my fellow teachers!
I have served on curriculum writing teams, presented staff development countless times - all centering around language arts or behavior management. I have been a team leader/department chair, a member of the campus' advisory and leadership team, headed up after school clubs, had student teachers, and multiple members from the same family (as requested by them) throughout my years. I was responsible for the ESL/sped ARD meetings for the school at one point.
