Specific responsibilities included: Building Structures, Uranium Storage, Plant Security Infrastructure, Pressure Vessels, Steam Systems, Boilers, Water/Wastewater Utilities, Fire Suppression, Plant Gases, Petroleum Piping/Tanks, and Special Nuclear Material (SNM) Shipping Containers.
  • Rigging Engineer: Designed and approved all rigging on site. Developed preventative maintenance procedures to inspect and load-test as required.
  • Managed maintenance and upgrade projects for numerous Cranes thru 5 ton capacity with numerous Specialized Lifters, and Manipulators specific to handling SNM.
  • Managed SNM Warehouse/Loading Dock upgrade projects to improve workflow/efficiency.
  • Trained staff members and improved engineering application processes.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency with Company/Engineering policies: “Management of Change”, Capital Appropriation, Procurement, Project Initiation, Engineering & Technical Specifications, Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA), etc.
  • Spearheaded/managed major plant upgrade projects for Natural Gas, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Argon, and Oxygen. Most noteworthy was the Hydrogen/Nitrogen Supply System project (~$3 million) which yielded over 1.4 million dollars in annual operating cost savings, significant greenhouse gas reduction, over 1 million kW-hr/yr reduction in electricity consumption, and elimination of anhydrous ammonia, the single most dangerous chemical onsite. Completed numerous related continuous improvement projects costing ~4 million.
  • Company's Liaison at Benton County Emergency Management Operations Center during emergencies and practice drills with county, city, and state officials.

Engineer III Thru Senior Plant Engineer

  • Lead Project Engineer for "Scrap UO2 Oxidation System" project developed for DOE's Blended Low Enriched Uranium (BLEU) project costing ~$3.5 million. This Best Practice UO2 oxidation system eventually went on to support all of AREVA's needs for U3O8 powder.
  • Lead Project Engineer for construction of two waste processing plants: “Gadolinium Scrap Recovery” and “Lagoon Uranium Recovery/Solids Processing (LUR/SP) Facility”. The largest of these projects, construction of the LUR/SP Facility, a three-year project costing $2.5 million. Met all EPA Consent Decree deadlines for emptying and removal of all liquid surface impoundment lagoons. Project nearly paid for itself by means of uranium recovery.
  • Lead Project Engineer for plant safeguards projects, including Concrete Barricades at perimeter of ~45-acre site, Security Guard Structures with Hydraulic Bollards installed at main gates, and site-wide Camera/Alarm system.
  • Lead Project Engineer for design/construction of several major plant facility building, and water main improvement projects costing over $4 million combined.
