I have educated students at Stevens Point Area Senior High School for 30 years in a variety of areas in our Technology Education Department that include Digital Photography, Computer Graphics, Introduction to Wood Working, Auto Awareness, Drivers Education, Machine Tool 1, Advanced Machine Tool, Welding 1 and Advanced Welding. During my time as a teacher I have also had the opportunity of leading our department as our Instructional Leader. The Youth Apprenticeship Program is one of my favorites at our school, I have been a mentor for students in this program for 25 years and enjoy their success in our community. I have spent 30 years here at SPASH (Stevens Point Area Senior High School) and feel very fortunate to have had this amazing opportunity.
I began my teaching profession in 1985 at North Division High School in Milwaukee Wisconsin. This teaching position offered many challenges as well as rewards. North Division is located in the inner city of Milwaukee where there was poverty and many other challenges that our students faced with every day. I truly enjoyed my eight and one half years there but it was time to move closer to my parents as they were getting older. This is when I moved to Central Wisconsin and began my career in Stevens Point.
In 1975 my family was inspired to create a water ski team to assist in a healthy activity that would involve families of all ages and backgrounds. So the start of an era began, for 48 years our ski team has provided entertainment for our community every Saturday Evening throughout the summer months. This sport required hours and hours of hard work to have the ability to purchase equipment and fuel for the the operation of our boats. This experience is where my teaching began, I have always encouraged/taught young people to advance in this sport. I am still actively involved and enjoy skiing with my kids and grandkids.
