• Care, Custody and Control of inmates on a day to day basis.
• Provide basic living commodities to inmates
• Supervise inmate movement and transportation
• Provide basic first aid
• Monitor inmate living areas and common areas for safety and security
• Provide a safe and secure environment on inmate holding units
• Maintain accountability of inmates on my unit by conducting inmate counts
• Monitor radio traffic while staying in contact with other officers and staff
• Use telephone system to contact other units and staff
• Use mechanical restraints and other non lethal items Maintain order using a calm demeanor while dealing with inmates
• Conduct fire and other emergency drills
• Operate state issued vehicles for on and off ground transportation
• Attend continuing education classes specific to my job and duties
• Perform all my jobs and duties in a professional manner while providing order
• Assisting other officers and medical staff in emergency situations
• Assisting other officers by volunteering for over time

• Performed routine equipment checks, maintaining operational readiness of medical devices.
• Patient transportation to different units
• Assisting nursing staff with medical procedures.
• Placement of IV's, catheters and other medical devices.
• Utilizing computers to access patient files and to complete charting.

• Aide in classroom instruction

• Conduct daily inventory of my equipment and vehicle

• Utilize communications equipment such as mobile phones and radios

• Utilize various computer systems

• Interact with the general public

• Operate emergency vehicles within state and company policies and procedures.

• Administer Basic Life Support medications under the guidance and direction of the WV State OEMS Medical Director.

• Train new hires and act as a Field Training Officer and EMT Preceptor for EMT students.

• Aide in classroom instruction
