  • I currently work as an infection control RN. I work closely with all members of the administration and leadership team on a daily basis regarding staff and patient concerns. As stated previously I have worked in many different departments at 5 years at Woodland Springs. These different departments have been as a staff RN, intake specialist, filling in for the outpatient RN, and Quality/risk management. Working in a variety of different departments has been critical to helping me understand how each department operates and how to better help the nursing department work with each other and improve communication and work flow processes.

  • I started out employment with Angels of Care as a RN case manager for pediatric patients and was promoted to Clinical Educator. In this role I my key responsibilities and roles included:
  • Interviewing all applicants, conducting new employee orientation, and skilled nursing check-offs that included TPN administration and Intravenous/ Central Line / PICC Line sterile dressing changes, training on how to use IV pumps, feeding pumps, and G-Tube/G-Button care and feeding/medication administration.
  • Case management duties included: New patient admission, Reassessment of care, Post-Hospitalization, Post Incident assessments, discharges, utilization reviews for insurance companies, entering in verbal/ written orders from physicians for field nurses, creating and updating the patient's plan of care, and handling any matters regarding my patients care and staffing.

  • A senior managerial role, I was promoted from being a floor nurse working with a wide range of patients from substance abuse and acute mental health disorders with both adults and adolescents. I was then promoted to Assistant Director of Nursing over the outpatient clinic, where amongst other things I gained valuable management experience in how to effectively deal with insurance companies. My key duties and responsibilities in this role included:
  • Conducting pre-certifications for patient care.
  • Liaison between patients and physicians to ensure patient comprehension of treatment plans. Counseling and educating patients about maintaining and optimizing health, medication compliance, and wellness.
  • Developing patient care plans, including assessments, evaluations and nursing diagnoses, obtaining and completing prior authorizations for patients medications.
  • Conducting nursing assessments on new patient admissions. Conducting behavioral health and medication education, as well as effective counseling in health maintenance and disease management. Processing monthly reports for department performance, authorizing drug refills and providing detailed prescription information to pharmacies. Scheduling patient admissions and discharges. Coordinated patient care from pre-admission to post-discharge follow-up.
