  • Check in patients: Greet patients as they step up to the window and sign in and ask if they are new or a current patient. If they are a new patient, I would make a copy of their picture ID and Insurance card and create a new chart for them.
  • Take vitals: After the patient checks in I would take them to the back and take their blood pressure and pulse rate. This can be done electronically or manually. If they are a new patient I would get their height, weight, blood pressure and pulse rate.
  • Clean the rooms: After the patient has left I will clear the paper off of the table and replace it with new paper on the roll.
  • Restock the exam rooms with supplies and prescription pads.
  • Check out patients: When the patient is done I will collect their copay (if any), write up a lab slip for them if needed and schedule their follow up appointment.
  • Filing: We use a paper chart system; I will file charts, and pull charts for the next week's appointments.
  • Answer multiline phones: I answer a 2 (two) line phone and address questions about prescriptions and appointments. I will schedule appointments in our appointment book. I also call and confirm appointments for the next day or the next week.
  • Order supplies for the office and injectable medications.
  • I work with the insurance companies to confirm benefits and to process Prior Authorizations for procedures and medications.
  • Type letters for disability, work accommodations, insurance appeals and notes to patients.
  • Help the doctor with joint aspirations.
  • Console and provide support to patients while receiving an injection.
  • Call patients to confirm appointments.
  • Perform PPD and Flu shot
  • Go online and make sure that the doctor's certification is up to date.
  • Manage the doctor's CAQH profile and make changes and corrections as needed.
