Accomplishments

  • Construction Defects: Successfully investigated in more than seven thousand residential and condominium units through multiple companies, Documented findings provided sufficient information for the Legal team to successfully settle most of the cases out of Court.
  • Damage Assessment: Multiple buildings, of both Public and Private sectors were impacted by Hurricanes during the 2004 to 2005 season along the coastline of the Florida peninsula. Documented findings assisted All entities in securing funding from State and Federal agencies for the reconstruction of their facilities.
  • Balconies: Investigated approximately over six hundred balconies in a single HOA encompassing approximately three hundred residential units project, to determine their integrity in compliance with the SB365 State Law, in anticipation of its enforcement by the year 2025.
  • PM-CM: Identified errors in the structural design of a 450,000 sqft roof system of multiple industrial buildings in an industrial project in Tijuana, Mexico. Determined that the supporting beams may have been undersized, recommending the design review of the structure, confirming my concerns, recommending the replacement of the undersize beams from WF12x55 to a WF14x45 for a 55ft span. This modification avoided the potential failure of the roof structural beams due to the excessive deflection at the connecting nods, at the same time reducing the structural weight by 15 % with substantial financial savings.
  • PM-CM Superintendent Assistant: Provided a technical solution to a repeated cracking of a 15x150 ft demising wall a the Scientific Atlanta Laboratories, in Sabre Springs, San Diego, CA. Work was constantly disrupted by the repeated repairs, recommending the installation of a control joint, the action solved the problem ending the continued cracking and work interruptions.
  • Assisted in the investigation of the improper application of a waterproofing system to a planter box in a five-story Medical building, injuring several employees, and requiring two employees to be interned in a hospital ICU. Additionally, HAZMAT closed the building due to the incident pending the safety evaluation. The case was settled for 1.5 million dollars.
  • Assisted in the investigation of the improper application of an epoxy repair system to a residence’s enclosure, where the contractor failed to provide a containment area before the spraying, to limit the contamination area. Because of the failure of the contractor and management, to provide adequate protection, and to provide the clean-up, the tenant took it upon to do it on its own. Unable to use the basic cleaning procedures such as the use of gloves, masks, garments, and other protective tools, the tenant sustained injuries from inhaling the airborne toxic chemical dust remnant on the surrounding surfaces. The injuries sustained by the tenant from inhaling the airborne dust, required her to be interned in an ICU for several days. The case is on going.
