When I started my journey at the Battered Women's Program, it was a big change for me because I knew nothing about domestic violence. In 2016, after needing a new beginning, I left after 18 years as assistant director. I started as a child advocate. In 2017, my job was split in two, and I became the Residential and Children's Coordinator. I held this dual role for 7 years, overseeing the shelter's day-to-day operations, supervising 5 shelter advocates, and overseeing the Children's program. After those 7 years, my title changed to Residential Coordinator. I have delivered many teen dating presentations and participated in numerous outreach events. To build my leadership skills, I attended Leadership St. Bernard in 2024 and completed Rise Leadership in 2025. For the last 4 years, I have written the Valero Gulf tournament grant and a few other grants that Ms. Gail has trusted me with.
