As a Resident Director, my role in daily operations was to oversee my assigned area, build a positive and safe community environment, supervising and training resident assistants, managing facilities, addressing student conduct issues, and 24 hour crisis response management.

• Oversaw 400 residential students, 40 office assistants, and 10 resident assistants.
• Equitably allocation of financial resources to resident assistants and building facilities of $10,000 while being regulatory compliant with state and federal codes.
• Served as a primary point of contact and provided support to residents on a wide range of issues including academic, personal, social, and behavioral concerns.
• Collaborated with campus resources such as counseling and health services, conduct, and academic advisors to provide comprehensive support to residents.
• Crisis responded to include fire emergencies, assaults, and mental health crisis.

Job Scope

Working within a higher education residential facility, my role as a Resident Life Coordinator was to foster a safe living and learning environment. Daily operations and responsibilities included resident room assignments, maintenance requests, fiscal management, facility inspections, advising Living Learning Communities, and 24 hour crisis response management.

• Supervised 20 Community Advisors, 10 Custodians, 10 Student Assistants, 1 Senior Specialist, and 1 Graduate Hall Coordinator in a residence hall with 800 - 1000 residential students
• Led two Living Learning Communities that fundraised $15,000 for underprivileged school children in Lubbock, TX.
• Fostered a positive living environment by encouraging open communication, conflict resolution, and mutual respect among residents.
• Crisis responded to include fire emergencies, assaults, mental health crisis, hard lockdowns and shelter-in-place, and managing student passing protocols with stakeholders.

• Supported research of Dr. Scott Longing in evaluating native bee populations in the southwestern United States and the effectiveness of ecosystem process management strategies in conservation efforts.
• Used ArcGIS, MaxEnt climate models, and citizen science data to predict future hotspots for these populations.
• Engaged with 30 people who were trained and collected 150 specimens of native bees through citizen science.
• Performed experiments and researched to study the impacts of pollution on animal and plant species.
• Advocated for work with Texas Parks and Wildlife to create policy change for bee conservation.

• Assisted in planning, scheduling, organizing, and implementing recreation programs, activities and events.
• Assisted patrons with receiving resources like food and shelter with the city.
• Prepared and served meals for patrons while providing one-on-one interactions focusing on making sure patrons had safe locations to go to after hours.

My role as a Residence Hall Director included ensuring the safety and functionality of the hall, managing student conduct, responding to student concerns, crisis response, and planning and supervising activities. Crisis responded to include fire emergencies, assaults, mental health crisis, hard lockdowns and shelter-in-place.

• Actively engaged 100 residential students in intentional programming and regularly meeting check ins.
• Selected, trained, supervised, and evaluated 6 Resident Assistants (RA) and additional hall staff.
• Worked with stakeholders, including students, parents, school administration, the South Plains College Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Student Counseling Center, to respond to student concerns or incidents within the residence halls.

• Supported branding, digital marketing messaging, and advertising campaigns by engaging with followers on various social media platforms.
• Recorded and conducted data about tree growth and development in different soil conditions.
• Researched historical tree growth and conditions in four different time periods; Pre-Colonial, Colonial, Industrial, and Modern.

• Developed an organization and database system for all specimen that adhered to national and international professional standards and ethics in managing and developing museum collections.
• Monitored different documentation methods, including tagging/labeling, cataloging, conducting inventories, and compiling/updating records in the collections information systems.
• Performed preventative care of various items in the collection including taxidermy specimens that needed to be repaired.
