Volunteer Experience
North Carolina Guardian ad Litem, 02/01/13 - 08/01/19
I served first as a Guardian ad Litem in Guilford County. I worked primarily with children under the age of six years old who had been removed from their parents' custody due to abuse or neglect. I investigated all aspects of the child's care to ensure that the child's needs were being met and the court's orders were being followed. I routinely attended medical appointments, therapy appointments, and meetings with caregivers and teachers. I met with foster parents and biological parents, as well as social workers and attorneys. I prepared reports for court and testified at periodic custody hearings. I later worked in Lee, Harnett, and Johnston counties when I worked as a real estate agent in the eastern part of the state.
