Host/Shift Lead

Happy Valley Ventures
01.2022 - 08.2024
  • After leaving the restaurant industry, I was offered a position as a host in retail at Happy Valley. I appreciated the change of atmosphere and pace. I found myself fitting in and adjusting rather easily with the required work, as well as with my coworkers and managers. As I do enjoy working with and assisting others, it came naturally for me to excel, and I was offered a promotion to shift lead in October of 2023. I accepted this role, and was given the opportunity to learn managerial skills and cultivate my own leadership skills. With tutelage from people I respected and had the pleasure of working with, I was able to gain knowledge in Microsoft Excel, participate in weekly management meetings, adjust and create promotional/sale-related content, as well as lead a team of excellent humans.
  • As much as I enjoyed the atmosphere, pace, and people, there are many things in the cannabis industry, in general, that still need time to develop properly. I felt the stresses that often arrive with constant change and flux. With so many regulations and laws put forth by the state and the CCC, it felt as though a mistake could be made that may cost one their employment.
  • In the end, personally, it felt like an unsettling feeling, and I became unhappy. I was able to recognize this, and resign respectfully, which continues to be reciprocated by my staff, and all management.
  • I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I was given at Happy Valley, however I am excited for the next chapter!

Server/Bartender

Minglewood Harborside (Serenitee)
01.2008 - 12.2021
  • I began working at Minglewood since it opened as Latitude 43 as a server and a bartender. The team effort there is palpable, and I’ve truly enjoyed being a part of it! My joy is people, and I enjoy bringing comfort and a smile to those I encounter in my work.
  • As much as I loved working here for over 13 years, the restaurant slows down quite a bit in the off season, so I am very interested in securing some work that is, well, more secure!
