  • Establishes and maintains liaison with employers and representatives at various agencies and private sector to obtain and exchange information for unemployment insurance benefits
  • Assist Director of Unemployment Insurance with special projects in relation to the head of the agency (Office of Secretary) Implement, monitor, evaluates and process Unemployment Insurance benefits claims fully through its entire cycle by analyzing information to determine the appropriate action that prevents fraud and make the appropriate entitlement decisions in accordance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations to determine if a penalty is to be imposed, if appropriate
  • Approves or disqualifies claims by applying Unemployment Insurance laws, regulations, and/or directives disqualification is warranted in accordance with the Annotated Unemployment Insurance Law of Maryland, Code of Maryland Regulations and Unemployment Insurance Directives Make determination decisions to regulate employer liability of payment of unemployment benefits
  • Validates financial data to ensure accurate reflection of payment and wage data
  • Detect, investigate, and resolve issues involving fraudulent claims and associated overpayments Analyze information to determine the appropriate claim type for unemployment insurance benefits, including but not limited to initial intrastate and interstate claims, additional claims, reopen claims, transitional original claims, combined wage claims, disputed wage claims, UCX claims for ex-service members, UCFE claims for federal employees, extended benefit claims, and claims for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA)
  • If applicable, provide claimants with options and/or instructions to file an unemployment claim with another state
  • Conduct separation and non-separation fact finding interviews to obtain information from claimants, employers, and others to determine entitlement to Unemployment Insurance benefits
  • Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers regarding Unemployment Insurance benefits, laws and process
  • Interviewing claimants and employers regarding submitted applications for unemployment insurance benefits
  • Examines and investigate claim history to ensure prompt and accurate payment of benefits
  • Conducted thorough reviews of appealed decisions to ensure accuracy in initial rulings or identify areas requiring reconsideration or amendment as warranted.
