As a Correctional Officer with the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, I perform physical searches of inmates, their housing areas, and personal property to detect weapons, contraband, and other prohibited items. I maintain the safety and security of the correctional facility by supervising inmates, responding to emergencies, physically restraining combative individuals when necessary, and enforcing federal, state, and local laws and facility policies. I prepare detailed incident and disciplinary reports, collect and document evidence, maintain proficiency with department-issued firearms, and work closely with law enforcement agencies during investigations, inmate transports, and criminal proceedings.
