- Examines gynecologic, non gynecologic and fine needle aspiration specimens rendering a preliminary diagnosis for pathologist.
- Provide immediate adequacy assessment during FNA procedures including EBUS, navigational bronchoscopy, GI endoscopy, ultrasound and CT guided cases.
- Prepare Cytologic specimens in the absence of the cytoprep technician.
- Oversee the Cytology lab staff including training of new hires, annual reviews, disciplines and coaching.
- Perform Quality Assurance activities ensuring compliance with CAP, CLIA and state regulations.
- Maintain adequate level of supplies for the functioning of the lab.
- Choose appropriate specimens for ancillary testing such as next generation sequencing and consult cases.
- Prepares teaching materials for Pathology Residency program and Rutgers MS in Cytology Program.
- Train Pathology Residents and students to perform FNA adequacy assessments.
