As a Fleet Management Service Advisor at Larry H. Miller Dodge, my role is important for ensuring that our fleet customers experience is effortless and efficient for their vehicles. I serve as the primary point of contact for fleet clients, coordinating between them, service department, and parts department to address their maintenance and repair needs along with quoting and finding part.
Each day begins with reviewing the service schedule, prioritizing fleet vehicles. My responsibilities involve a combination of technical and administrative tasks aimed at keeping our clients fleets operating smoothly.
When a fleet vehicle arrives, I perform a thorough intake process, documenting its condition and the specific concerns reported by the driver. Using my mechanical knowledge, I assess these concerns and speak with my team of certified technicians to develop an appropriate approach. This involves discussing potential issues, such as engine performance, recall repairs and maintenance concerns.
A significant part of my job is to communicate effectively with technicians. I relay their findings to the fleet managers and explain necessary repairs in a clear manner, ensuring they understand the nature of the issues and the associated costs. For example, if a fleet vehicle’s engine rocker arms have damages bearings causing noise, while slowly damaging the camshaft. I will detail the implications of this on vehicle performance and potential damage, and recommend appropriate corrective actions and instead of becoming a full engine overtime its only rockers and camshafts.
I also manage the scheduling of repairs and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime for fleet operations. This involves balancing the immediate needs of high priority vehicles with routine maintenance schedules. I used programs to track history and predict upcoming maintenance requirements, ensuring that no vehicle falls behind on its service intervals.
Another key aspect of my role is handling parts ordering and inventory management. I coordinate with parts department to ensure that required parts are available or ordered in a timely manner. In addition to mechanical task with my technician, I handle customer relations, addressing any concerns or inquiries fleet managers may have. This includes providing detailed estimates, explaining service options, and offering solutions to enhance vehicle performance and longevity. I ensure that all service work is performed to high standards, maintaining clear and accurate records of all interactions and service history. My job as a Fleet Management Service Advisor is a blend of technical expertise and customer service.
