I worked as a police sergeant both on the street and in the Bureau of Investigation of the San Jose Police Department which allowed maximum flexibility and training in investigative techniques. After working on the street for four years I was assigned to the Child Abuse detail where I worked for three years before returning to the street. I was then assigned to the Office of the Chief of Police (Research and Development) and I then returned as the supervisor of the Child Abuse detail for another three years. I was then elected as the president of the San Jose Police Association where I oversaw and monitored the application of the California Police Officers' Bill of Rights among other duties. I retired from the police department and moved to Washington state where I opened my own private investigation business.
Planned, scheduled and supervised work of seven subordinates on patrol teams and the Financial Crimes and the Child Abuse Detail of the department;
Taught Report Writing and Investigation methods at the Evergreen Regional Police Academy for 23 years (part time)
Supervised the planning, goals, and operations of the 1,800 member San Jose Police Officers' Association and led the negotiating team
I was the Chief Executive officer of the San Jose Historical Museum, an outdoor museum devoted to the collection, research, preservation and exhibition of historical items from the Santa Clara valley (Silicon Valley).
