Responsible for providing leadership to nursing staff in implementing provision of patient care in Women’s & Children Services for Singing River Hospital. The role was expanded from the Patient Care Coordinator, to a newly formed title Patient Care Manager of Women’s & Children services. The title was changed to Patient Care Manager in 2012 the scope of responsibility increased greatly. Primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with standards outlined by the Mississippi Board of Nursing and The Joint Commission Standards for Acute Care Hospitals. Supervisor for 45 direct report FTEs.

  • Accountable for providing administrative and clinical leadership for entire service line regarding both acute care and primary care settings. This encompasses over registered Nurses, licensed practical nurses, nurse techs, and other ancillary staff.
  • Instituted new meaningful rounding program and department based post-discharge call back system = increasing patient satisfaction by 40%.
  • Established expanded role as Embedded Adjunct Faculty with University of Southern Mississippi, College of Nurse to aid nursing faculty shortage in addition to promoting organization nurse retention and recruitment.

  • These individual programs have significantly increased the number of well-trained medical and nursing support during the current nationwide nursing shortage in a cost-effective manner. This program is proving to have great success in increasing the number of inspiring nurses to the community while also aiming the goal to decrease/eliminate SDOH.


    Developed and Implementation of Meaningful Rounding Program and Department Based Call-Back System –

    This system and method provide urgent assistance to address patient care needs resulting in fewer HAIs, Falls, Pressure Ulcers and better patient outcomes in addition to improv. The MRP was first used to introduce and promote the use of SBAR format of reporting in the Singing River Healthcare System.
