Work History

Director of Technology

Paxton Buckley Loda CUSD 10
11.2014 - Current
  • I have been responsible for modernizing the district's technological infrastructure and systems, leading a wide array of projects and initiatives.
  • Spearheaded the successful 5-year initiative for online student registration for all returning students, ensuring a smooth process which included over 1200 students completing registration online and integrating various forms, surveys, and data collection.
  • Directed the two district-wide deployment and upgrades of wireless access points (APs) to our current WiFi 6 capable network, significantly improving network performance, increasing capacity, and facilitating smoother testing procedures. This project involved replacing all APs in the district and strategically placing new APs in our 3 separate campuses.
  • Managed the acquisition and deployment of new Chromebooks, achieving a 1:1 student-to-device ratio across the entire district in 2019.
  • Led major website revamps and migrations, including consolidating Google Sites into the centralized platform, streamlining menus for improved accessibility and consistency, and coordinating with building administrators to properly showcase their schools.
  • Implemented a new bullying reporting method, enhancing district security and efficiency by reducing false reports and enabling better tracking of incidents.
  • Orchestrated the launch of SmartPass at the High School, a new 'Hall Pass' system providing teachers and administrators with insights into student movement, and allowing for setting restroom capacity, encounter prevention, and minimizing lost instructional time.
  • Championed the introduction of 'Thrillshare Rooms' to enhance parent communication, providing each teacher with a dedicated space for updates, photos, and announcements while ensuring student and guardian data protection through a strict COPPA agreement.
  • Recruited, trained, and managed a team of student helpers (ICE workers), including providing hands-on training in critical skills such as Cat6 wiring, network room cleanliness, chromebook repair, and hardware setup. These individuals were instrumental in managing a high volume of tech help requests.
  • Revamped the Technology Office to create a more efficient 'Help Desk like environment' with the addition of a Data and Communications Coordinator, optimizing workflow and better serving our students and staff.
  • Developed and implemented a repair tracking system and established a workspace for library interns, enabling them to address basic tech issues and significantly reduce the workload on the central tech office.
  • Maintained regular on-site presence at each campus to address technology needs, gather feedback from staff, and manage Chromebook repairs.
  • Managed ongoing device cleaning, updating, and deployment for all teacher machines and student Chromebooks. While also offering a Windows based lab as well as a Mac OS lab for our High School students.
  • Oversaw the migration of the Skyward student and financial data database to a cloud-based data center, enhancing around-the-clock monitoring, daily, and monthly backups.
  • Implemented a CIPA compliant off-site filtering solution (GoGuardian), allowing for effective monitoring and redirection of student internet activity on their devices, supporting both remote and in-person learning.
  • Ensured student data privacy by continuously updating and maintaining agreements on file for all apps and programs that exchange student data, complying with regulations like COPPA and SOPPA.
  • Orchestrated major network upgrades with vendors in the Junior High and High School, replacing old switches with state-of-the-art equipment, running new CAT6 cabling, and updating network address schemes to provide more bandwidth, efficient traffic steering, and real-time network health insights.
  • Managed the acquisition and installation of Promethean boards across all three campuses.
  • Directed the installation of vape detectors and additional security cameras in district buildings, including running necessary Ethernet cabling to minimize labor costs.
  • Prepared for the future by analyzing staff survey results on AI and developing an action plan for acceptable staff and student use, including consultations with external experts.
