· Administer, maintain, and manage the NetApp SAN/NAS environment for both production and disaster recovery: Provisioning, LUN security, Break/Fix, HBA Consulting. Firmware/Microcode management, SnapMirror Replication, Snapshots Management, NFS exports and CIFS shares management, OS upgrade.

· Perform installation, configuration and tuning of storage devices and software, capacity planning and develop improvements to the existing storage environment and monitor the SAN health and performance.

· Lead efforts for storage consolidation, develop and execute storage management methodologies designed to protect mission critical data, and also develop and maintain all required technical documentation and standard operating procedures for the SAN.

· Involved in the planning and implementation of NetApp consolidation/data migration and CommVault upgrades of both software and hardware.

· Conduct the SAN switches refresh and consolidation: replaced legacy HP Brocade 8/12 SAN switches with new Brocade Fiber channel switches. Install and configure new Brocade switches, configure zoning, using webtools and command line.

· Pre-cable/migrate servers into new switches for fabric and data migration from failed switch to new switches.

· Port analysis using the Webtools (fabric watch and performance monitoring tool for brocade switches).

· Document all Storage and Backup decommission processes and all storage arrays, switches, microcode, and switch upgrade processes.

· Conduct upgrades and apply patches as required to NetBackup Environment.

· Install and configure VMware Tools and Nutanix Guest Tools to make the respective VMs Backup/Restore faster.

· Provide troubleshooting and repair services for all NetApp systems alerts and issues tracked via Remedy ticketing system.

· Create and submit RFCs for all changes related NetApp and CommVault systems for Management approval.

· Provide performance analysis and troubleshooting of all CommVault data recovery strategies for critical systems, and data backup measures.

· Track the performance and monitor the capacity of NetApp systems.

· Proactive monitoring of the ongoing operation of storage systems and provide utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions as needed.

· Develop documentation/Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that result in repeatable processes for installation/ setup and all artifacts that support the rational: -the how and why we did it this way-

· Define NetApp migration plan that accelerates execution and minimize impact to the user community.

· Establish migration plans for complex tier applications and services.

· Gather needed data to forecast long-term capacity and performance requirements for CommVault migration to the Metallic cloud Storage Services.

• Troubleshoot the Quantum i6000 tape libraries issues at both sites and/or open service request tickets with the vendor when necessary.
• Tuned and enhanced the configuration by implementing the persistent binding of tape drives with the Media Agents, in collaboration with the storage engineer.
• Enhanced backup systems with Service Pack upgrade and coordinate library/tape drives firmware upgrades with Quantum.

• Migrated from CA ARCserve to Symantec NetBackup 3.4, then upgraded to 4.5, 5.1 and later 6.0 the entire Backup infrastructure. Tuned and enhanced the configuration by implementing the SSO (Shared Storage Option), Enterprise Vault and Drives persistent binding to the libraries’ Fiber Channel cards.
• Supervised two Backup/System Administrators.
• Documented and troubleshoot Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL) Quantum DX30/DX5000.
• Enhanced backup systems with firmware upgrades: DLT Scalar 458, Quantum M2500/M1500 Tape libraries and all Quantum DLT/Super DLT drives.

Maintenance of 11 ARCserve servers then upgrade to Symantec NetBackup 3.4/4.5/5.1 and later 6.0 on a WAN based network.
• Managed the inventory and offsite storage of backup media. Worked with local IT resources in remote locations to ensure that backup media handling conforms to established procedures. Consulted with IT managers, network and application engineers, and system administrators to determine backup requirements for new or changed applications and databases.
• Oversaw the projects scheduled backup operations, including job creation, scheduling, and backup completion status monitoring across all platforms. Collated backup status data and regularly generate reports on the status of backup operations. Identify failures, omissions, and other anomalies and coordinate appropriate responses with the data and system owners. Optimized performance of backup software, replication, and supporting elements to the extent possible within overall network and IT resource constraints.
• In cooperation with application and database owners, developed plans and schedules for periodic tests of data restore resources and procedures. Responded to and helped resolve issues raised by data or system owners pertaining to backups, restore tests, and production restores. Ensured backup software products and any supporting software or hardware firmware are current updates and security patches. Communicate with vendors as may be required for installation, configuration, support, and purchasing issues.
• Provided technical support to remote administrators with all ARCserve and NetBackup, software and hardware related problems.
