I was the Medical Assistant for 8 months before I was promoted to Clinic Supervisor for the Santa Fe/Albuquerque clinics. I was in charge of setting up the new clinic for the Santa Fe location providing hiring and training. Was the vaccine coordinator for Vaccines for Children program. I would work front and back office and float from Albuquerque to Santa Fe to fill in as needed. Worked closely with Clinic Administrator.

As a Medical Assistant for a busy ObGyn clinic, I worked closely with providers from physicians, nurse practitioners to midwives. Preparing patients for rooming and exams, set up and assist aseptic and sterile procedures, prepare and administer medication as well as immunizations, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, provide basic education to patients, scheduling, referrals, prior authorizations, in basket support with electronic medical records.

As the Medical Assistant/Unit Secretary in Pre-op. I would ensure all consents were signed by the patient, I would also obtain vital signs. If she was scheduled for a Cesarean section I would put her on the fetal monitor for a non stress test (NST). Worked closely with the RN's, Anesthesia and Surgeon's to ensure they were seeing their own patients prior to their surgery as well as keeping the RN's informed in the operating room. Prepare patient charts for the next day surgeries.

As the Medical Assistant at this private private, I worked closely with the doctor with phone triage, obtaining vitals, setting up rooms and instruments in preparation for various procedures as IUD insertion/removals, colposcopies, LEEP's, hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsies. Clean/ wrap and sterilize instruments. Administer medications and immunizations. Place patients on fetal monitor. Schedule inductions , urinalysis, pregnancy test, collect and prepare laboratory specimens.

As a contract Medical Assistant with the ability to adjust to various work sites, I utilized much of my background experience and honed a few such as phlebotomy and DMII. I was situated at the Albuquerque Indian Hospital where I also worked in High risk Ob/Gyn clinic with providers and residents that specialized in Women's Health.

As a Medical Assistant, I provided support of various natures to women with high risk pregnancies which included emotional support, transmission of critical lab values to providers, amniocentesis set up and assist, fetal monitoring (NST), obtain A1c values, spirometry, vitals, prior authorization for medications, schedule C-section and cerclage/ inductions, order medical supplies, vaccinations and phlebotomy.

Although I was at this practice for brief time, I became familiar with preparation of injectable medications and assisting providers.
