01.2020 - Current
  • NSF Award Abstract # 2009351 Preparing Secondary Teachers to Teach Quantum Information Science
  • NSF Award Abstract # 2048691 Preparing Secondary Teachers and Students for Quantum Information Science (QIS). K-12 students must be introduced to the importance of being quantum-smart which, in turn, means educators must learn how to teach quantum mechanics and QIS applications. However, most K-12 educators are not prepared to teach principles and applications of quantum information and technology as they are not taught these concepts unless they are a physics major
  • Quantum for All is a project designed to help K-12 teachers and students understand how quantum mechanics is the basis for current and future jobs.

designed and developed this unique course which surveys humankind’s efforts to explore space through both crewed and uncrewed missions with emphasis on NASA missions. Students discover the scale of Earth orbits and how celestial objects have been observed through satellite flybys, spacecraft landings, and human explorers. The course also investigates what it takes to be a space adventurer through classroom survival activities and experiences of veteran astronauts as students explore the benefits of space exploration.

Lead Curriculum Developer for Salt Lake City Community College (SLCC) Challenger Learning Center

ADDventures in Physics Project Coordinator /Principal Investigator

01.2000 - 01.2002
  • Physics began serving as the underlying course for a coherent science program at Box Elder High in 1997. A natural consequence of this switch to now several hundred incoming sophomores enrolling in Physics was a dramatic increase in number of students with learning disabilities now studying Physics.
  • In order to facilitate the success of these students, curriculum enhancements were designed to address the specific needs of AD/HD students.
  • This curriculum enhancement package, “ADDventures in Physics”, has been presented to both inservice and preservice teachers locally, nationally, and internationally through hands on workshops and discussions.
