The University of South Alabama built a satellite, named JagSat-1. I played many very important roles for over two years on this project. Beginning in the summer of 2020 in May, I am still working on this project currently. JagSat-1 was a successful mission that involved a multitude of faculty, students, companies (including NASA, Space-X, and Nanoracks), and universities. On this project I did a variety of jobs. My most notable accomplishments for the project are:
Ordering and designing the cleanroom - I personally ordered all parts for the clean room, and helped build the clean room.
Website Development - jagsatmission.com was made completely by me using wix.com. This website is still being worked on, but I have done it all by myself since May of 2022.
Coding/Debugging - For every board that was successfully integrated in to the satellite, I helped code and debug each one while working with a faculty member.
Main Structure Development - I helped the Mechanical Engineering team with the design of the main frame, and the different components needed in it, in order for cabling and wiring to be completed successfully.
Cabling and Wiring - Me and another student identified the cables and wires needed, ordered them, and installed them properly.
Groundstation Development - The last step in this project is getting a working groundstation running to properly communicate with the satellite. While this has not been successful yet, this is currently being worked on by me and the team. However, other ground stations have picked up data from JagSat-1 showing mission success for the satellite.
I am continuing my work in satellites/spacecraft by working on a senior project design for a Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS). This was one of the boards on JagSat-1, and it is important for a new ADCS to be made for more precise controls and pointing for JagSat-2. I am currently working on this project and plan to finish it by May 2023 (graduation)
