Eric Spriggs

Over the past 24 years as a Correctional Officer I have worked every post in the institution, been involved in crisis response situations (large disturbance on the recreation yard), been trained and performed inmate transports, and provided information regarding introduction of contraband that has led to either the introduction being disabled or used the information to locate the contraband and apprehend the individuals responsible. I am familiar with processing in of inmates, de-escalating disruptive inmates on the compound and in SHU. I have over the course of my career acted in the capacity as a first responder to a medical emergency and provided immediate first aid until medical staff could stabilize the inmate. I have demonstrated diligence in responding to staff and inmate emergencies by intervening in fights and securing the compound to ensure staff and inmate safety. I have assisted the Lieutenants with transporting and gathering information from inmates. Due to my communication skills and ability to develop rapport with the inmate population, I have been able to work with inmates while on suicide watch and de-escalate issues with problematic inmates in the Special Housing Unit and on the compound. I have received several awards over the years and have demonstrated that my work ethic has been either at the exceeds or outstanding level.

Additionally, over the years, I have assisted the institution in recruitment of new officers and been presented with awards after they were successfully hired and retained ( 2006-

2008). The following is a list of the awards that have been issued since the beginning of my employment in this position. They reflect my growing and on-going commitment to

the position for which I was hired and my desire for upward mobility.

During my employment with this restaurant, my primary duties were as acook, however I was also responsible for inventory, ordering of supplies, stocking shelves, and unloading supply shipments. During the supply shipment process, I unloaded, inventoried, and stocked the supply rooms and freezers. Provided accurate accountability of shipments received to the general manager.

During the summer months, my duties included the loading and unloading of tractor trailer shipments, stocked tires and other supplies, invoiced shipments, operated hand dollies and hand trucks, forklifts, maintain accurate accountability for each load and shipment, maintained accurate inventories within the warehouse and reported to the manager any discrepancies in orders, need for additional supplies, and when tasks and shipments were complete.
