Erika Solomon

Responsible for the overall day to day management of the Surveillance Unit in the Division of HIV Health. Responsible for creating budgets for CDC funded programming for the City of Philadelphia. Oversee five Program supervisors/coordinators and a total staff of thirty.

• Responsible for the supervision of Disease Surveillance program investigators
• Responsible for reporting and maintaining accurate data regarding AIDS and AIDS-related syndromes in Philadelphia county, and assigning, reviewing and participating in the work of investigators engaged in case discovery, disease surveillance and/or disease control activities.

• Responsible for conducting investigations of new or unreported cases of HIV/AIDS or AIDS related symptoms and completing case reports for the State of Pennsylvania and the Center for Disease Control
• Assist in interviewing individuals at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS.

• Work closely with medical providers and case management staff to provide social services to HIV positive consumers
• Complete financial assistance applications, housing applications and food assistance applications as needed
• Assist with the planning and follow through of HIV specific activities within the organization
• Complete monthly reports outlining services provided on a monthly basis to designated populations.

• Provides information, counseling, testing and referral services to adolescent patients in a clinic setting
• Assists in program start-up and tracking of data for the annual report
• Performs specimen collection for rapid HIV testing
• Provides excellent reproductive health care counseling in the clinic, e.g
• Birth control options, pregnancy options, STD counseling, etc
• Completes all necessary documentation and provides to the Family Planning Council, the program’s funding source.

• Ensured that female patients followed-up with abnormal test results and were referred to the appropriate specialists
• Maintained an active caseload of prenatal and HIV patients to ensure quality of care and appropriate follow-up of care
• Provided referrals to mental health and other social services as needed.

• Answered phones, greeted customers, and assisted clients with inquiries
