    marine protected area in the bay of Ieranto.
  • Used snorkel gear to observe and collect data on the species of fish in the area, as well as their size and abundance. Data was analyzed and presented in the form of a research paper focused on how to improve conservation strategies.
  • Worked on kayaks to give educational tours to tourists, keep
    illegal boats out of the restricted area, and clean trash found in
    the water.

Sea Turtle Conservationist

  • Developed support for sea turtle nests to help hatchlings make it to the ocean. Included camping on the beach for the season, hourly check-ins with the area, and building a foundation to protect the nest and make a pathway to the ocean.
  • Educated Italian beach locals about sea turtles and the purpose of monitoring their safety.
  • Analyzed the findings after hatching by opening the nest in order to measure their success rate. Compared how many survived, how many did not hatch, and if any of the eggs were diseased.
