  • As a patrol sergeant, I was responsible for a squad of 12-16 officers assigned to specific geographic district within the borders of the city of Pasadena. I was responsible for recognizing and responding to crime trends within not only my assigned district, but entire geographic confines of the city as well. I was responsible for keeping up with officers calendar time off and weekly time sheets as well as reviewing and approving shift officers investigative offense reports. As a patrol sergeant, I was required to check in on all major crime scenes, collect basic information, and ensure the investigation is proceeding according to policy and procedures. I was assigned to all three patrol shifts multiple times over approximately 19-20 years as a patrol sergeant. During my career, I served as a mentor and role model to junior officers.

  • June 1989- Hired at Pasadena.
  • Patrol Officer from 89-92.
  • Interviewed victims, complainants and witnesses, gathered information and evidence, and secured crime scenes.
  • August 92-March 96 transferred to Detectives
  • Conducted follow-up investigations, interviewed witnesses, suspects, and victims. Compiled case information and filed criminal charges when applicable. Testified in court, presented evidence, or acted as a witness in criminal cases.
  • Completed numerous training courses, including: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Homicide Investigation, Basic-Advanced Property Crimes Investigation, as well as state mandated child abuse and domestic violence training.

  • Transferred back to night shift patrol supervision duties in 2008-2012.
  • 2010 I was involved in creating the first Peer Support Unit for the Pasadena Police Department.
  • I began receiving training in Law Enforcement Peer Support in 2009 and over the next three years received basic, advanced, and train-the-trainer certifications in the LEAPS method of Law Enforcement Peer Support. I also received basic and advance training in Law Enforcement Suicide Prevention, as well as basic and advanced Critical Incident Management training certifications through the ICISF. (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation)
  • Assigned as Auto Theft Division Supervisor from 2012-2015. Successfully managed large caseloads & a large financial grant from the State of Texas.
  • 2015-2019 Supervised the Communications, 911, & Jail Division.
