  • As Chief Recruiting Officer for the agency, I was afforded to opportunity to continually review recruiting and hiring processes, through data analysis and survey-based input from candidates.
  • Generated reports detailing findings and recommendations on an annual basis to our Human Relations Commission, Chief of Police, and Mayor/Board of Aldermen
  • Overhauled our hiring process during COVID Pandemic, to create a contact-free testing process. This enabled the agency to be one of a few nationwide, that did not shut down our academy hiring process due to contact restrictions

  • Lead and Co-Lead Detective on nearly 10 homicides within the City of Frederick
  • Obtained and served search warrants for property and persons related to ongoing cases.
  • Gathered facts from interviews of suspects, witnesses, and complainants.
  • Served as a Task Force Officer with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). I was responsible for identifying and preparing federal firearms cases in Western Maryland and West Virginia. This included testifying in Federal Court, working cooperatively with Federal Agents on cases outside the City of Frederick (in addition to my local responsibilities)
  • Wrote detailed reports outlining case findings for internal files and legal purposes.
  • Appeared in court hearings and testified under oath in multiple high-profile cases. Provided written reports, evidence and verbal testimonies.
  • Kept meticulous and detailed records of each case to avoid causing any problems with prosecution.

Accomplishments

    Earned an Associate's Degree through Frederick Community College, while successfully completing the extremely challenging Frederick Police Department syllabus.

    Transferred to the position of Detective, within 5 years of academy completion. Quickly established myself as a strong and dependable detective, and was assigned many high-profile, violent crimes;

    I was the first police detective in Frederick County, to attend the National Fire Academy, to become certified in Advanced Cause and Origin Investigations;

    I was extremely fortunate, to have the opportunity to reopen a 1996 homicide of a 15 year old girl. Through two years of extensive collaborative investigation and nationwide professional assistance, I was able to successfully locate, charge, and have the suspect in this matter, sentenced to more than 50 years in prison;

    Successfully completed the Maryland Police Correctional Training Commission's Certified Police Trainer course;

    Designated as a Field Training Officer (FTO), within one year of Academy graduation;

    Rotary Club of Carroll Creek "Police Officer of the Year", twice, and "Officer of the Month" more than 7 times;
