American Legion Award winner · May 1973

  • Out of 400 students, I was awarded the American Legion School Award. I had no clue I was voted as the sole winner. I didn't know till the graduation ceremony. Thought they made a mistake! First time I got an award in my life for whatever effect I had no idea I was having. Truly a very special honor.

    The American Legion School Award is a medal and certificate given to eighth graders who demonstrate qualities like courage, honor, and leadership. The award was originally given annually to boys graduating from eighth grade.
