- I worked as the Ecology Area Director of Camp Durant, a Boy Scout Reserve located in Carthage NC
- There my primary job was to ensure that my area was running smoothly and that every scout was getting the best experience that the Ecology area had to offer
- I supervised a staff of three and helped them create their session plans
- Supervising also meant taking care of problem children and completing and filing paperwork
- In addition to supervising my staff I was also instructing Boy Scouts ages 11-17 in the Environmental Science Merit Badge, which is an Eagle
- Scout required Merit Badge
- Some of the responsibilities as an Ecology Area Director included making sure all the animals were taken care of
- Those animals included snakes, a bearded dragon, a pig, and chickens
- If an animal was found in a campsite I was called on scene to relocate the animal
- I was in charge of maintaining my area such as, taking out the trash, cleaning the animal enclosures, taking inventory of the Ecology work shed making sure my staff had all they needed for the next day and week
- Some responsibilities as a Camp Staff member included working with other areas to create entertainment for the campers
- Also we were in charge of camp set-up and camp tear-down along with general maintenance projects during those times.
