Road Dispatch Responsibilities:
• Support and/or contribute to planning transportation needs for the efficient movement of volume in an effort to maximize capacity, minimize partial trailer loads, and ensure service integrity for assigned areas.
• Direct the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan.
• Collaborate with other FedEx Freight Terminals to efficiently and effectively plan both contractor and equipment needs to ensure sufficient coverage for trailer movements.
• Coordinate and track the processing and movement of FedEx trailers, rental equipment, new trailers, and dollies in the FedEx network.
• Manage domiciled drivers to cover the Linehaul network to maximize resource use and minimize tractor dwell.
• Ensure Linehaul Dispatch and Arrival rules are followed according to defined company procedures.
• Coordinate shipments to maximize trailer volume while meeting package delivery obligations (e.g., guaranteed a.m. deliveries, Guaranteed shipments, Priority Plus shipments).
• Enter trip details into an online system to ensure on-time delivery and pick-up of trailers.
• Verify the location of equipment in the dispatch system through yard inventories.
• Conduct yard checks to verify load/unload status of trailers and timely reports missing equipment.
• Follow and communicate safety initiatives to promote a safety-conscious culture.
• Investigate and report schedule delays, accidents, and equipment failures, implementing contingency plans to ensure on-time delivery in case of issues.
• Review and communicate Department of Transportation (DOT) roadside violations to management.
• Coordinate with Safety and Maintenance departments to monitor monthly tractor safety inspections and ensure annual certificates comply with DOT regulations.
