I'm a high school graduate with my AA in Art through the Running Start Program with Green River Community College. I'm a Lead Sailing Instructor in the summer and a Ski Instructor in the winter. I've had a few commissions for logos and my current career interest is graphic design.

  • Maintaining the safety of boats, equipment, and students that attend the program.
  • Coordinating class plans and collaborating with fellow instructors on how to safely and effectively follow through with those plans, while also allowing students the time for play.
  • Aiding in management of instructors and junior instructors.
  • Leading chalk talks for students.
  • Adapting teaching styles for different students and implementing visual, auditory, and kinesthetic aspects to further understanding.
  • Facilitating float tests and providing necessary PFD's to children.
  • Facilitating capsize recovery tests to ensure students are comfortable with it happening, and understand how to safely right the boat if/when the situation presents itself.
  • On the water instruction while students are sailing in boats.
  • Discussing needs, questions, concerns, and commentary at the end of each day with students' parents/guardian.

  • Managing a class of young students that differ in age and skill, building them up not only in skill, but in confidence as they are challenged each weekend of teaching.
  • Creating class plans and collaborating with colleagues for activities or alternative teaching styles.
  • Briefing the students on day's activities and debriefing them at the end of the session, giving them each a personal goal to work on.
  • Checking weather, snow, and other skiing conditions before skiing with the class to maintain the students' safety.
  • Provide support for the students and coach them while keeping a fun and enjoyable learning atmosphere.
  • Grade each student using report cards and discuss with parents on points of improvement, and skills they learned or improved.
