ORP is a voluntary program that supported adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders (COD) returning to NYC from NYS Department of Correction and Community Supervision (DOCCS) prisons after serving a minimum six-month felony sentence.

  • Evaluate risk factors associated with recidivism among participants through psychological assessments and psychometric testing procedures – Supervise all aspects of intake, admission and exit processes for prospective and current clients (Pre- and Post-Release): (1) Screen and Assess Utilizing: DAST, SMAST, CSI, and PCL-5, and (2) Administer Correctional Officer Management Profiling for Alternative Sanctions (COMPAS) to customize a comprehensive, Individual Service Plan for clinical treatment, care coordination, and forensic supervision implemented immediately upon release
  • Serve as a liaison between corrections departments and community organizations that provide re-entry programs for former inmates and facilitate communication between courts, correctional facilities, social service agencies, employers and other stakeholders involved in a participant's rehabilitation process
  • Identify new program resources and implement viable linkages with other service systems to expand and improve services for the clients and effectively address gaps in service
  • Schedule and supervise staff meetings to discuss new ideas and update participants on program details and milestones
  • Deliver outstanding program results by setting clear objectives and proactively addressing potential challenges
  • Responsible for preparation and submission of various reports (e.g., annual, continuation) to ensure SAMHSA can monitor our progress and performance as well as secure continued funding for the next budget period of the project

EAC Network | Brooklyn Youth Initiative

BYI was established in response to New York’s Raise the Age legislation to support court-involved youth and their co-defendants (ages 14-24) under the direction of Honorable Judge Craig S. Walker, Acting Supreme Court Justice for Youth Part and Young Adult Court, Supreme Court Kings County, Criminal Term. BYI provides comprehensive legal and clinical support, including age-appropriate interventions, structured community supervision, individualized treatment planning, advocacy, and reentry support. Additionally, BYI conducts court-ordered Pre-Plea Investigations (PPIs), offering detailed clinical assessments of adolescent offenders (AOs) by evaluating their social, economic, medical, educational, and criminal background to inform judicial sentencing decisions. PD Gabrielle Herman, LMHC has expanded BYI to now service participants in the community, detained at Crossroads Juvenile Detention, Horizon Juvenile Detention, and Rikers.

  • Advocate for at-risk youth's rights within the legal system by promoting helpful resources and programs to foster progress, and by providing expert testimony when necessary

MGP under Kendra’s Law ensures timely access to mental health medications for individuals released from correctional facilities or discharged from psychiatric hospitals while awaiting Medicaid eligibility determination. This no-cost initiative facilitates enrollment within seven days of release and provides a 90-day medication coverage period through a network of over 5,000 pharmacies. Administered in partnership with OMH and Pharmacy Benefits Manager Magellan, MGP transitions eligible individuals to Medicaid or alternative funding sources for continued pharmaceutical care, promoting stability during reintegration into the community

  • Enhanced data accessibility for hybrid remote data analyst team by locating lost desktop server and creating a secure cloud-based management system (Microsoft 365), with designated email, and centralized inbox for provider communications and disenrollments, leading to a 900-client increase in non-duplicated case processing in 2024—the highest annual growth recorded
  • Facilitated knowledge sharing by creating centralized data repository accessible to all relevant parties
