With five years of experience working with children and military families, I am a Lead Teacher for Navy Child and Youth Programs. My focus is on ensuring the active engagement, well-being, and safety of the children under my care. I have developed a deep understanding of their unique needs and challenges. By fostering a nurturing environment, I strive to create a positive and enriching experience for each child participating in the CYP.
I have chosen to pursue a graduate degree in speech-language pathology because I am deeply passionate about helping individuals of all ages improve their communication skills and quality of life by addressing speech, language, and swallowing difficulties. I am particularly drawn to your program's emphasis on research and practical experience, which I believe are vital for developing the skills necessary to address the unique needs of children and their families. I am eager to explore evidence-based practices that can enhance parent engagement in the therapeutic process. By bridging the gap between research and practice, I aspire to implement innovative strategies that support children in overcoming speech and language challenges in order to strengthen family dynamics.
Furthermore, I am committed to advocating for underrepresented communities to access speech therapy services. Every child deserves the opportunity to communicate effectively, and I aim to contribute to equitable practices within the field. By understanding cultural nuances and building trust with families, I hope to create inclusive environments where all children thrive.
I am excited about the opportunity to develop my clinical skills and deepen my knowledge by pursuing a master's degree in speech pathology. I am driven by a passion for growth—not just in myself but also in the children and families I hope to serve. I am eager to collaborate with faculty and peers who share this vision, and I look forward to contributing to the field in meaningful ways.
