Hostess

Texas Roadhouse
Mesquite, TX

  • I was a hostess/cashier at Texas Roadhouse, as a hostess there were several positions that they trained me in. Position 1, was a seater which you start off as a hostess learning your table numbers and how to interact with costumer in order to make them feel welcomed. Position 2, was call aheads where you answer the phones and help add people to the waitlist in advanced and accommodate any special requests. Position 3, means this were you add people to the waitlist who walk-in explaining to them how long the wait would be for a specific amount of people, how much time they have left on the waiting list, checking them in on the waitlist, and plugging them to the tables that accommodate the amount of people that they have. Position 4, updater they help run the restaurant, by walking around the restaurant making sure that tables are clean, and help the restaurant stay clean and organized. Position 5, DC they run the restaurant by making sure they are giving the customer the correct wait time, they are also in charge of taking the large party by giving them their wait time, DC also are in charge of texting the customers to let them know that their table is ready. Not only was I hostess but I also worked in the to-go area as a cashier, in to-gos I was in charge of helping costumer with food items such as taking their orders, checking them out, explaining to them are menu items, such as how many sides come with it, sides options, special food accommodations, price ranges and etc. As someone who worked their for 1 year I was trained in several positions, compared to other workers who have worked longer and had more experience than me. I am a fast learner and have really great communication skills with people explaining things in a matter where they understand and feel confident.
