*Oversee the daily functions of the surgery scheduling department
*Schedule surgical cases for Orthopedic and Urology offices
*Talk with patients in person or via phone to discuss possible time frames for scheduling of procedures and what needs to be completed before obtaining a surgical date (ie: obtaining clearances from their doctors)
*Contact patients once all clearances are received to determine surgical date and mail appointment info to patient
*Obtain prior authorization via phone or online for surgical cases
*Answer phone calls and return calls from any messages left in a timely fashion
*Monitor receipt of surgical clearances coming into the office.
*Call provider offices for any clearances that have not been received
*Review clearances when received and have ready for providers review and signature
*Scan all surgical paperwork and clearances to patient's chart
*Discuss financial responsibility due to office before surgery. If patient's have balance on account or in bad debt, this is discussed with the patient also
*Update surgical forms that patients receive as needed
*Coordinate scheduling of procedures with the hospital surgical department as needed
*Coordinate pre-op and joint camp appointments with PPS department at hospital as needed
*Schedule pre-op and post op appointments
*Coordinate pre-op and post op appointment availability with provider schedule with office coordinator as needed
*Maintain communication with providers regarding surgery schedule and any issues we have regarding schedules
*Maintain communication with providers regarding any concerns or issues scheduling department is having with patients
*Work through any concerns or issues with teammates and hospital staff
*Communicate openly and honestly with teammate(s) regarding any issues that have been brought to my attention, any changes that will be coming about in our department, etc.
*Obtain prior authorizations for MRI and CT Scans
*Obtain prior authorizations and benefits for Visco injections.

I transferred from St. Luke's Pharmacy to Rosenberg Bone and Joint, in 2004 (still hospital employee).
I have been an employee for 28 years with St Luke's Hospital, now AdventHealth Polk, eight years in the hospital pharmacy and 20 years in Orthopedic office
I have a vast knowledge of Orthopedics, having done many rolls within the office over the years I feel my experience lends greatly to our providers and teammates I look forward to continuing to improve upon my roll
For several months now, I have also been scheduling and obtaining prior authorization for Urology I have learned so much and look forward to continuing to improve upon my roll
